Because water flows through multiple filtration layers, each component plays a different role — and that means each has its own replacement schedule.

Why the sponge and guard need
more frequent attention

The sponge filter and propeller guard act as the first line of defense. They capture fur, food particles, and larger debris before water reaches the core filter.

It's best practice to:

• Rinse the sponge filter regularly under running water to remove trapped fur and debris.
• Check the propeller guard during routine cleaning and rinse off buildup.
• Replace both monthly to maintain steady water flow and hygiene.

Please avoid using detergent or soap when rinsing. Even small amounts of residue can remain trapped in the material and affect water quality.

If you notice reduced flow or visible debris buildup sooner — especially in multi-pet households — you may choose to rinse or replace more frequently.

After you refill

Sometimes after refilling, the core filter may briefly float. This simply means a small amount of air is trapped inside.

To fix it, gently tilt the core filter, fully submerge it to release any trapped air. Once the air is expelled, it will stay properly saturated and stable.

When replacing the core filter

The core filter detaches from the propeller base. Please keep the propeller and base — they are reusable components designed to last. Only the vertical filter cartridge should be replaced.

A simple rhythm

There’s no need for over-scrubbing or complicated maintenance. Just follow this pattern:

1. Rinse sponge + guard during routine cleaning.
2. Replace sponge + guard every month.
3. Replace core filter every two months.
